A couple more jackets...

We'll keep thinking about jacket through the summer, although the first class in jacket making won't be until fall. I hope it will be too warm for jackets really soon!  These 2 are of the "Dolphin Jacket".

It is backed with scrap fleece that I had lying around.  Used both embroidery quilting and free motion to finish it.  With no closures, it went pretty fast.  Fabric from the Salty Needle Quilt Shop in Cedar Key, FL.  When you see something you like, buy a yard.  It doesn't take much when you use other fabrics with your focus fabric.  Really, It's ALL ABOUT THE FABRIC!!!

More whenever I feel like it!

Thursday night at The Big Deck!

Just a quick note to say that my band, Shade Tree, will play at The Big Deck's open mic session on Thursday night, February 26, 2015.  That's in Cedar Key on Dock Street, sometime between 7 and 9 pm.  Just a few songs; Kate Talbott-Nagel and her band host it every week.  She's fantastic, got a voice like the young Stevie Nicks!

Oh, you didn't know I had a band?  Well, I like to say I was born to sew and sing!  Hence, Mermaid Song Quilts! We do have a not at all active Facebook Page, and a website that might still be available, I don't even know!  www.shadetreeband.com.  Here I am with Will Ellis, bass player, and David Norden on guitar and harmonicas.

See ya!

The Cedar Key Jacket, Take 1

So, having given up my space at the Salty Needle Quilt Shop to spend more time preparing classes and QUILTING!!!, I'm working on bettering my computer skills.  It's a mysterious world, but I'm willing to try!

Today's post is about the Cedar Key jacket.  I made the jacket in 2013.  Actually, I made 2 because Beth Davis had such great dolphin fabric at the shop.  Here's a little movie to see the jacket in construction.  More next week on the finished jacket and when we will offer the class!
